The city of Bogota has a huge variety of tourist places, with an interesting mixture of colonial buildings and skyscrapers. Points of interest in the city include: La Candelaria area, with several museums, cultural scenery and art exhibitions and the Plaza de Bolivar, enclosed by government buildings representing different architectural styles and eras. The famous Gold Museum, with 36,000 golden pieces on display, is a unique testimony to native pre-Columbian culture. Bogota is not only about the past.
