El Calafate :
Situé sur la frontière sud du lac Argentino, Calafate est un petit village de Patagonie, en Argentine. Son nom est un dérivé de 'calafate', un petit buisson de baies bleues fonçé et fleurs jaunes, très répandu en Patagonie. Calafate est une importante destination touristique, point de départ pour visiter les différents endroits du parc national Los Glaciares, comme le glacier Perito Moreno (l'un des plus visité au monde) ou les Cerro Chalten et Cerro Torre. Les 5000 habitants de Calafate ont fait de l'hospitalité leur spécialité. C'est une communauté paisible et charmante, présente depuis 1913. Paradis de végétation et de quiétude, Calafate est le lieu où les merveilles de Patagonie sont présentes dans toute leur splendeur. C'est un endroit où les lacs, la végétation, les arbres, les montagnes et les glaciers coexistent avec les riches faunes et flores locales. Actuellement, c'est un site touristique majeur, aux maisons, boutiques artisanales et restaurants typiques. Calafate attire des voyageurs du monde entier car tout les circuits qui mènent aux glaciers commencent ici: Viedma Glacier, Upsala Glacier, Onelli Glacier, Spegazzini Glacier, Mayo Glacier, Frias Glacier, ou Perito Moreno Glacier connu comme la "huitième merveille du monde" et classé World Natural Heritage Site par l'UNESCO en 1981.
