Puigcerda, in the north of Catalonia is the capital of the Cerdanya region. Protected by the Pyrenees, it's an enchanting place to visit at any time of the year. The scenery is exceptionally beautiful and always green, which is emphasized by the beautiful lake, the waters of which mirror all the different shades. Especially outstanding are the Town Hall Puigcerda and the Gothic church of Sant Domenec with mural paintings, the Gothic bell tower of the church of Santa Maria (which has disappeared) and Placa Major, a charming arcaded square which is the bustling centre of the town. Near Puigcerda there are numerous ski resorts and sport centres, among them especially La Molina, Masella and Nuria with its celebrated sanctuary. Also worth mentioning are Camprodon, Setcases and Ribes de Freser, which is famous for its mineral waters.
