Liverpool :

This maritime mercantile city has become legendary in the 1960s for being the home of the Beatles, and you can still find Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. You can also take a Liverpool Beatles Tour, with the Magical Mystery Tour, Cavern Club, Casbah, Beatles Story . Yet, the city was well-known as one of the worldï¿½s major trading centres in the 18th and 19th centuries, and you can see it from its architecture. Take a wander through central Liverpool, stopping at the new Met Quarter, home to a host of superb designer stores. Southport's broad boulevards have gained it the title "Paris of the North". But there's something else it shares with the French capital ï¿½ a wide range of boutiques, high street names and continental markets. The obvious place to begin discovering Liverpool is Lord Street, but Chapel Street, Eastbank Street, Tulketh Street, Wesley Street and King Street are sure worth a look.
